How do I prolong my AC Unit’s Lifespan?
When taking care of your AC unit, there are a few features our team may install or recommend based on your specific unit and the size of the home. At Norman Air, we are constantly looking to increase the longevity of your system as well as reduce your utility bill by improving the efficiency of your AC system. Here is a list of accessories we may either recommend or are included in a new unit install:
Basic Compressor Saver Kit
Includes an upgraded contactor and capacitor designed to prolong the life of a compressor and ensure more reliable operation. This kit can be added to an existing unit or an AC replacement.
Ultimate Compressor Saver Kit
Includes the basic kit plus a surge protector to prolong the life of a compressor and ensure more reliable operation. This kit can be added to an existing unit or new AC installation.
AA1 Drain Cleanout and Drain Safety Switch
In HVAC units, we install a Drain Safety Switch that will shut off the unit in the event of an accumulation of water in the drain line – this will allow you to schedule a technician to come out and clean out the drain lines.
We regularly put tablets into the drain lines of HVAC units to prevent buildup and clogs, although buildup can still happen depending on the conditions of the unit/house/etc. The best way to stay on top of this maintenance is to join our Comfort Club and receive member benefits.
We also install Drain Cleanout attachments that allow our techs to easily clear a drain line from air conditioner condensate drain lines. These are included on each of our new AC Installs.
Mars Surge protector
A Mars Surge Protector helps protect your unit from lightning strikes and power surges. Included is a 3-year warranty and a $7,500 connected equipment warranty. The surge protector can be installed on every new unit and also be added to an existing system.
Locking caps
Provides a more robust seal than standard caps to prevent Freon leaks. This also prevents thefts of refrigerants, giving you more peace of mind. Locking caps can be added to an existing unit or a replacement AC unit.
