Prevent Leaks & Damage From Equipment Failure
We make every effort to ensure your equipment is installed properly, or that your older unit will stay functioning as efficiently as it can. We want to protect your home and keep your family safe, so you may hear our service technicians recommend any of the following accessories for your home. Why? Here is a brief explanation.
Braided Washing Machine Hoses
It may seem like an insignificant suggestion but washing machine hoses are a vulnerable point for water leaks in your home. They are also one of the easiest leaks to prevent. Sometimes washing machines are installed quickly without adhering to industry standard and have rubber hoses.
Rubber hoses can quickly spring a leak from the stress of constant water pressure on the lines. If you have ever left a garden hose (with a spray nozzle) out for days with the water valve open, you know how quickly rubber hoses warp and spring a leak – the same situation applies to these hoses. Industry standard is to install braided stainless steel washer hoses. This is a great, low-cost way to prevent unnecessary leaks in your home.
CO and Gas Detector
Gas leaks or Carbon Monoxide accumulation in your home can be fatal. We recommend installing a high-quality CO and Gas Detector and making sure it is installed properly by professionals. If natural gas or propane is used in your home, this should be a top priority in your home’s accessories.
These detectors should be installed on every level of the home that has a gas appliance and within 5-10 feet of a gas appliance or fireplace – let our techs take care of placement if you are unsure of the best places for detectors. The detectors we provide have a battery back-up and easily plug into to any wall outlet.
Water Heater Alarm
We install a water heater alarm on the drain pans of water heaters. This sounds an alarm if a leak is detected — alerting you to a possible problem in your unit and hopefully preventing overflow or leaks.
HVAC Drain Shut Off Switch & Clean-Outs
In HVAC units, we install a Drain Safety Switch that will shut off the unit in the event of accumulation of water in the drain line – allowing you to schedule a tech to come out and clean-out the drain lines (we regularly put tablets into the drain lines of HVAC units to prevent buildup and clogs, though buildup can still happen depending on the conditions of the unit/house/etc.) We also install Drain Clean-out attachments that allow our techs to easily clear a drain line from air conditioner condensate drain lines.
